Photo Essay - Banganga Festival 2007

Sangam - Conglomeration of Heritage with Art

It is the perfect place. Exceptional artists. sensational setting. Breezy evening.

All this came together on the 6th day of this 2007 year @ Banganga tank in Walkeshwar, Mumbai. There were 3 artists: Rahul Sharma on Santoor, Anuradha Pal on Tabla & with a Paakawaj player. Each one a maestro in their own descipline. The music accompanied by the ringing sound of the historical temples surrounding the tank which was by Ram's mighty bow which brought River Ganga to clear the thrist of the sages & others who were said to visit this place during Ram's vanvasa. The Banganga festival started with the lighting of the lamp including the artists & dignitaries from the state & central govts. Then started the various composition from Santoor, Tabla & the accompanied instruments. The following photos speak a lot than any words.

Thanks for dropping by on my travel blog. I have one more. :)
Nice pictures and long shots.

So, you were sitting on that side :P
As you would have guessed, I was exactly opposite the stage.

BTW, two questions...
1. Which camera do you have ?
2. Why so late in posting the pictures ? Its almost 1 and 1/2 months now.
